Qingdao is a prefecture-level city in eastern Shandong Province, located on the coast of the Yellow Sea in China. It was once an important fortress and was ceded to Germany in 1897. Qingdao is an important seaport and naval base, as well as a commercial and financial center. It is known for its historic German-style architecture and Tsingtao Brewery, China's second-largest brewery. May Fourth Square

May Fourth Square is a large public square in Qingdao's central business district, covering an area of 10 hectares. It is located between the new municipal government building and Fushan Bay, and consists of the City Hall Square, Central Square, and Seaside Park. The square is named after the May Fourth Movement, a nationwide protest that erupted in Qingdao, and is most famous for its giant 'Wind of May' sculpture by the sea. The square is a popular tourist destination, bordered by the municipal government building to the north, the sea to the south, and surrounded by high-rise buildings on its east and west sides. The 'Wind of May' sculpture is 30 meters high, 27 meters in diameter, and weighs over 500 tons, making it China's largest 'steel' urban sculpture. Its Chinese red color and spiraling wind shape embody the patriotic spirit and national strength of the May Fourth Movement against imperialism and feudalism.
