Shenzhen is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, also known as Pengcheng. It is located in the southern part of Guangdong Province, on the east bank of the Pearl River Estuary, separated from Hong Kong by a strip of water. It is one of the first special economic zones established in China. As a pioneer demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Shenzhen has achieved remarkable achievements in technological innovation, international trade, finance, and other fields, and is known as the "Silicon Valley of China". Its total economic output has surpassed Guangzhou and Hong Kong, making it one of the largest urban economies in the world. Shenzhen also has the second-highest number of skyscrapers in the world and is home to many well-known high-tech companies such as Huawei, Tencent, and DJI. The city's population is mainly composed of young immigrants, full of vitality and innovation.

The Shenzhen Civic Center is a government building in Shenzhen, China, located within the Futian Central Business District. It cost 2.172 billion RMB to build. This civic building is a core part of the overall master plan for Shenzhen's Futian Central District and "focuses on traditional Asian themes and traditions." The entire urban plan is based on a central axis that extends 2 kilometers from Lianhua Mountain in the north, passes through the Civic Center, and reaches the Convention and Exhibition Center in the south. The total land area of the master plan is approximately 100 city blocks, and the total planned building area is "5 times that of the original World Trade Center towers." The building's roof spans 486 meters and is 154 meters wide. The building is 84.7 meters high and covers an area of 200,000 square meters. The Civic Center building is a multi-functional public building, housing government offices, with one tower dedicated to a Science and Technology Museum focused on technological manufacturing in the Shenzhen region, and the other tower housing a conference center and auditorium. The building also features large shaded areas designed to protect visitors and staff from harsh weather and summer heat. It is often used as a popular vantage point for various celebrations, drone shows, and LED light shows. Nearby, there are also indoor gardens and extensive parks for pedestrians.
