Covering an area of 108.07 hectares (267.0518 acres), the park has attracted approximately 12 million visitors annually since its opening in 2011, making it one of Shenzhen's most popular urban parks. It consists of two parts: Shenzhen Bay Coastal Leisure Belt and Shenzhen Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park. The park stretches 13 kilometers along Binhai Avenue and Binhe Avenue, featuring walking and cycling paths, and is divided into over a dozen themed areas, including Zhongwan Yuehai Plaza, Haiyun Garden, Bailu Slope, Beiwang Lugang, Xiaoshan Hill, Universiade Torch Tower, Liuhua Hill, Crescent Valley, Sunrise Theater, Tidal Wetland, Wedding Plaza, Guanhai Trestle Bridge, and Haifeng Sports Plaza, among others. Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park

Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park

Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park is part of Shenzhen Bay Park, located along the coastline of Nanshan District and Futian District in Shenzhen, and is one of Shenzhen's most popular urban parks. The park covers an area of 108.07 hectares (267.0518 acres) and has attracted approximately 12 million visitors annually since its first opening in 2011. The park consists of two parts: the Shenzhen Bay Coastal Leisure Belt in the southwest and the Shenzhen Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park in the east. The latter is located within the Shenzhen Mangrove Nature Reserve, is a habitat for many endangered bird species, and is also famous for its mangroves. The entire park area was opened on August 6, 2011, the day before the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade. These two parts are divided into more than 10 different themed areas, including Zhongwan Yuehai Square, Haiyun Garden, Egret Slope, Beiwang Lu Port, Xiaoshan Hill, Universiade Torch Tower, Liuhua Hill, Crescent Valley, Sunrise Theater, Tidal Wetland, Wedding Square, Seaview Trestle, Seawind Sports Plaza, etc. Among them, the Universiade Torch Tower is 26 meters high and has become a new urban landmark after Shenzhen hosted the 2011 Universiade. Shenzhen is an important migration stop for migratory birds from Siberia to Australia, which also makes Shenzhen Bay Park a great place for birdwatching – including many nationally protected bird species. Local environmental organizations often host public birdwatching events, providing equipment and birdwatching guidance. The Shenzhen Bay Park Nature Education Center, jointly established by the Shenzhen Urban Management Bureau, Shenzhen Park Management Center, and Shenzhen Mangrove Wetland Conservation Foundation, is China's first nature education center. Shenzhen Bay Park was originally a tidal flat in the northern part of Shenzhen Bay, later formed by land reclamation for the construction of Binhe Avenue. To protect the mangroves, the government moved Binhe Avenue, originally planned to pass through the mangroves, more than 200 meters north and transformed the reclaimed roadbed in the west into Shenzhen Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park. The Mangrove Park was established in 1999 and officially opened to the public in December 2000. In 2001, it merged with the Shenzhen Bay Coastal Leisure Belt to form Shenzhen Bay Park. After the completion of the Shenzhen Bay Coastal Leisure Belt in 2006, Shenzhen Bay Park finally officially opened to the public on August 5, 2011.
