Zhazidong Concentration Camp, located at the foot of Gele Mountain in Chongqing, was a prison established by the Kuomintang Military Statistics Bureau. It is famous for the movies "Eternal Life in Flames" and "Red Rock". Many revolutionary martyrs were imprisoned here, making it an important place to witness the history of the Chinese Communist Party's revolutionary struggle. Zhazidong was originally a small coal mine, named for its abundance of coal slag. Later, it was rebuilt into a prison by the Kuomintang Military Statistics Bureau and called the "Sino-American Cooperation Organization" to the outside world. In reality, it was a hell on earth for persecuting revolutionaries. The prison's internal facilities were simple and the management was strict, making it evidence of the Kuomintang reactionaries' brutal suppression of the revolution. Zhazidong and Bai Gongguan together constitute the core of the Gele Mountain Martyrs Cemetery, a national key cultural relics protection unit and a patriotic education base.
